Window balancers

Handy Person from St Petersburg, Fl
The code on the old balancer is 2305. I did not see it on the chart. My sash is about 50 x 24 single pane. Do you have a recommendation for a 24" series 378? attached a photo.
Thanks,
Hugh

Part 2. I also have a balancer with a stamp code 1740. What equivalent 18" series 378 would work?
Thanks,
Hugh

Hey Hugh. Just to clarify, be certain that the balances you have are in fact the Series 378. Those stamps are not identiifers--they just designate the balance's strength and are used by many different balance Series. See the top fitting, as well as the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, below. If anything is off, please show how and send photos.

For the balance stamped 2305, the best thing to do would be to weigh the window sash the balances support. You can use that exact weight to find the right stamp option. For a 18" balance stamped 1740, you can choose 1740 as the new stamp option.

I measured the shoe and confirmed it is 7/8". The top looks identical. Do I use the total weight of the sash to match to the chart or divide by 2 since there are 2 balancers? Just a little unsure.
The 18" balance with 1740 looks good.
Thanks for the help

For channel balance you use the total weight to choose the stamp option, rather than dividing the weight in half. If the shoe is 7/8" deep then it sounds like you need the Series 378. Let us know if you have further questions.
