Hello! We definitely carry these parts. See the 15-192 pivot shoe, 15-156 cover, 15-157 drum, and finally the Series 170 and Series 171 coil springs. The video below will also show you how all these parts work together.

A contractor from West Chester, Pa. says:

The shoe looks identical. The springs your showing me are 3/4" wide. The springs I have are 1/2" wide and both springs have the number 9 on them. Again 2 springs to a side stacked. Already sent you the size and weight of the window in previous email. It would seem to me to be infinitely more efficient to have one phone conversation to get it right. The last time I ordered what was the correct part, I was sent a wrong part and had to modify in the field due to time constraints.

We're not able to help over the phone, unfortunately. I can only help you here in this thread. Issues like you describe here take time and research. It's not always a one-and-done thing that can be settled over the phone. I also have another couple hundred customers waiting in line, so it's not feasible to handle everything with a phone call.

Your issue is a good example. We don't have a Certainteed spring with a 1/2" thickness. This isn't something I'm familiar with, but I'll look into it for you and see if this is something we can supply. I'll get back to you as soon as we have more information one way or the other.

Paul from SWISCO responded:

Yeah, this is a weird one. Certainteed balances are almost always 7/8" in my experience. We do sell the S152-9, which is 1/2" thick, but this isn't strictly made for Certainteed windows. It also has one centered hole instead of two holes like your original.

Is your shoe also 1/2" thick, or is it just the spring?

A contractor from West Chester, Pa. says:
The 15-192 shoe is exactly the same as what I have. There are 2 coil springs on each side, at 9lbs each that's 36lbs. The sash is 18lbs. Also the spring covers offset the spring by 1/4" which explains the 2 hole in the spring. One works for left side, One works for right side.

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Unfortunately, we weren't able to find anything like your old spring. We're forced to conclude that it's an older style that probably isn't made anymore. That said, if your shoe is 7/8" thick, then logic dictates that the window channel can accommodate that size. I don't see any reason why the covers and springs we recommended earlier wouldn't work for you. If they can't for whatever reason, though, then we have nothing else that can. This is the only Certainteed brand coil balance we can offer at this time.
