Hello, thank you for writing in. Before I recommend anything, could you tell me the width of that bottom shoe? You can refer to the picture below to see what dimension I am looking for.

Comparison of the S378, S380 and S385 balance shoes.

Actually, the shoe 7/8". Also, I need to correct myself. The #3635 dimensions I gave you correctly. However the #2950 is the same with the exception the u channel is 30" in length and the spring rested is about 18 1/2". Attaching some more pics of the #2950 to show some detail.

Thank you!

If your shoe is 7/8" deep, then your balances need to be custom made with our 15-029 shoe. This isn't a stock product, unfortunately.

If I understand you correctly, you need two balances:

  • 3635 balance, 37" long, 19-005 top and 15-029 bottom fitting
  • 2950 balance, 30" long, 19-005 top and 15-029 bottom fitting

I have a couple extra questions that I need clearing up. Can you tell me the exact weight of the sash for the 3635 balance? That's a very, very weird stamp. I've never seen one that ends with the digits "35" before. Getting the weight of the sash will let me determine exactly how this spring needs to be calibrated.

Can you also tell me how many of each size you need?

I think I'm going to order one pair with the 1" shoe and see if it fits ok. I'm assuming it helps keep the window centered in the jamb right? If so, I think there may be enough play. I'll get a weight to you and firm everything up. From there I'll order the rest.

I can't guarantee that the Series 380 will work because of the difference in the shoe size, but of course you are welcome to try it! Let us know when you have ascertained the weight of the window for the 3635 balance - this will be a very important detail. Many thanks!
