Window balances

A quick learner from Mims, FL says:
How do you know if a balance is bad and not just not adjusted correctly?
Thank you for your time,

Hi Peter,

The answer to that question depends on the kind of balance that you have. The only balance that you can really adjust would be a spiral balance. You can try unhooking the bottom of the spiral and giving it one or two turns with a charging tool or needle nose pliers to see that helps. If that doesn't help, it's probably time for new balances.
