Window balances
Hello there. I can't see the stamp in the photo, but it probably refers to the length of the metal channel, not including the end attachments, which is how channel balance length is defined. Measure the metal channel to confirm it is 14". if so, it's likely either an S380-14 or S385-14. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylo shoe, as shown below. Measure your old balance's shoe to see what matches best.
You also have to choose a stamp option, which reflects the balance's strength. The stamp on the metal channel should indicate what to choose. If there is no stamp, or you're unsure, weigh the window sash the balances support. You can use that weight to pick the right stamp option.
The plastic area is the widest 1 3/32 and the metal section is actually 15" long without the plastic pieces. Can you please tell me which part I should order? Thank you! Cherie Mathews
Hey Cherie. In that case you want the S380-15 or S385-15--and if the shoe is 1-3/32" deep, it's the S385-15. That stamp might indicate what stamp option you should pick. If you can send a clear photo of the stamp I'd be happy to take a look. Otherwise, weigh the sash to determine the right stamp as I indicated above. Many thanks.
These are the stamps on the balances a little clearer (we used different one then the original I sent you). These were the only stamps on there. Does that help? (sorry, I didn't remember the bottom part of your first email).
Warmly,
Cherie
Hi Cherie, that's perfect, thanks. That stamp of 14-4 conforms to our stamp option of 1440. So for your new S385-15, choose 1440 as your stamp option. Let me know if you have further questions!
