Window balance/spring

A contractor from Bucks County Pennsylvania says:
I'm not sure they have to get these out, however I have four Windows where the balance is stuck at the bottom that even if you try to put the tab on the window into the balance and lift it back up it does not want to move. It seems opposite of what I'm used to when it comes to bad window balances.

Looks like you have a tilt window channel balance with a ribbed channel. These can be a bit of a pain, since it's necessary to remove the entire jamb liner to take the balance out.

We can help walk you through it, but before we start suggesting this or that procedure, I'd like a photo of the pivot shoe at the end of the balance cord at the bottom. That will allow us to identify what kind of balance you have and how to work from there.

A contractor from Bucks County Pennsylvania says:
Here is a photo of the shoe and the pin on the sash. And one of the jamb.

Thank you. I believe this is our Series 751 channel balance. Does that look right to you? If so, see our guide on how to remove this type of balance from the window.
