Window channel balance
Thanks for posting. I am confident we can help, but that stamp is not an identifier. To know the balance's identity, we need clearer photos of the nylon attachments at both ends. The style of attachments will determine the balance needed.
Thanks for getting back to me. it looks like you have either an S380-23 or S385-23 Channel Balance. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See the diagram below for reference. Measure your old balance's shoe depth to see what matches best.
You then have to choose a stamp option, which reflects the balance's strength. Your old balance's stamp of 2290 is from a rating system we no longer use. To know what stamp option to select for the replacement, you need to know the exact weight of the window sash that these balances support. It is possible that the '28' stamped on the balance is in fact this weight, but you can weigh the sash to be confirm that. If the weight is 28 pounds, choose stamp 2260, which denotes a balance that can support a window in the weight range of 27 through 30 pounds. Let me know if you have further questions.
