Window cord replacement

Quick Learner from Collingswood NJ
Hello, I'm looking to get a window repaired that doesn't stay open. It looks like the string cords on sides are both cut and I'm not sure what part I need. If I just need to replace strings or the whole mechanism? There is a number on the side of the bar that holds the string from the looks of it (see pic) "2200 3.S.I?" ? Any help would be appreciated , thanks

Hi there, Tom.

It sounds like you're having issues with your balances. The purpose of them is to help close and open your windows. The cord you're referring to is a part of the window's channel balance and I'm afraid they can't be replaced so you will need all new balances.

Our Series 770 looks like a match to me. You will need to measure the metal channel in order to pick the right length. However, the stamp printed on the metal channel doesn't match any of our options so you will have to weigh the window sash on a scale to determine the proper strength option for your replacements. There's a chart under the product description that will tell you what option is best based on the weight of the window sash.

Please note, the S770 installs at the top of the track using a screw. If yours uses a type of hook or clip, please let me know!
