Thanks for posting! The piece that dislodged from your awning window is the worm gear. This interacts with the gears on the base of the operator so that the arms can push the sash open and pull it closed. Since the worm gear has been removed, you'll need to replace the entire operator.

There is a good chance we can provide you with a replacement recommendation for your operator, but I'll need to see a photo of the end of the arms detached from the bottom of the window sash.
