Window crank will open but not close window

Hardware has the brand name "Entry Gard Truth", with several numbers that can be found including: 20810 and 45179. I have many windows in my house with this style crank. Nearly all have plastic covers that are cracked. I have 2 windows which will open by crank but not close. When I turn it in the closing direction the crank handle and its associated screw basically unscrews/unseats itself from its housing and disengages itself from the gears...it's as if something should be locking it into place but no longer does. In both cases the non-functioning systems are left mounted (i.e. the window pivots on the left side of the window frame from the perspective of the inside of the house).

Your photo resembles the 39-031 and 39-032 Entrygard operators. The determining factor would be how the length of the shorter link arm compares to yours. If the handle no longer stays on the base, it's possible that the spline that it attaches to may have come loose from the operator base. If so, the entire assembly would need to be replaced.
Dimensions for 39-032
We also offer the 39-107FK handle and cover kit used with these operators. See the 39-107 cover and 39-205 folding handle if you'd prefer to stick with the same style. Take a look and let us know if you need anything else.
