Window cranks

I have a 1950s picture window in my home with a long narrow window on each side that opens with a crank. I need to remove the cranks completely from their housing. Can you tell me how? There seems to be no screws to loosen. If I remove the piece of metal the crank is attached to, will air come in from the outside? I want that removed as well if possible if you can tell me how to seal it up again. Thank you so much!

We'd be happy to help but we'd like to see a picture of your operator with the window open so that the arms that move the window are fully visible. That will help give us a better idea of how to remove your hardware.
