Dear Sir or Madame, I need to replace three window cranks for awning style windows. The spiral gear on the crank appears to be stripped.
I will enclose a picture
of this type of crank assembly. The window is 36" W x 18" tall

Hi,
Thanks for posting with a photo. Take a look at SWISCO product code 39-083, operator. This operator cranks out and has a single pull just like the one shown in your photo. Measure to see if this is the correct replacement. |

Donna,
Can you explain how the crank assembly is removed from the window sill
after you detach the two arms from the window?
Do you have to take the trim pieces off from the lower part of the window frame or does the crank assembly just pull out from the lower part of the frame?
Thanx,
Randy W.

Hi Randy,
You are correct; it shouldn't be difficult if you are handy with a chisel and hammer. You will need to open the window first. With the window open disconnect the operator from the window sash bracket. Next, you will have to pry off the interior sill cover; take care not to damage the trim. After the sill cover is removed the operator screws will be exposed so you can remove and replace the operator. |
