Window does not stay open

Hello, I have double hung windows. Five of my windows do not stay open. They slide down. What would be the cause of this? I believe that I need new balance springs. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you, Monika

Hello,
We'd be happy to help, but we can't determine what you need with the coil balance hardware still installed. We'd need to start by seeing the pivot shoe and balance spring uninstalled to compare to our inventory. We'll also need you to write out the width and thickness of the pivot shoe, as well as show us any stamp codes on the metal springs.
