This window is in our master bedroom upstairs and it doesn't open. The lock is broken on the side. Where can I buy and replace a new lock instead of having to change the entire window case? Our local window store suggested replacing entire window case which they quoted at $1100! Seems like this can be an easy fix, any suggestions? Thanks!
Window doesn't open
Wow, great view! I wish I could look at that every morning.
You don't have to replace the window case at all. I'm pretty sure we can find a match for this lock, but I'm not sure exactly what to recommend. I was able to narrow it down to four options: our 38-095, 38-096, 38-138, or 38-139. The major difference between these products is the size of the fork that does the locking.
Now, the problem is that your window won't open. I assume this means the lock is broke and stuck in the locked position. This isn't the easiest thing in the world to fix, but it is possible. You'll need to find a way to cut the lock off the window. I would highly recommend contacting a local professional to do this for you. Like I said, it's not easy, but it's definitely going to be cheaper than getting an all new window.
