Guides won't hold the windows. Windows are approximately 5'x2'8".
cannot find any identifying marks on the guides or windows. Is it possible to measure them accurately enough to find,fabricate new ones?

I'm afraid I don't know what a guide might be in this context. Can you explain exactly what the issue is? When you say that the guides won't hold the windows, do you mean that the window won't stay open and drifts close on its own?
If so, the issue lies with the balance. These are spring loaded assemblies on either side of the window that regulate the operation of the window. We may be able to assist, but I need clearer photos of the balance itself. I don't see it in your photos. Removal prior to taking your photos will likely be necessary, otherwise too much will be obscured to be helpful.

Hi Tom, Yes: your quess is correct about it being the balance and the windows sliding down(we call them guilotin windows). The windows are first generation double pane but the windows themselves look in good shape. My guess is that they are at least 40 years old. I'm selling the house so if the buyers are interested in saving the existing windows, I'll take one of the windows out and send you pictures, but it will require removing some trim work.
