Window latch dimensions

I bought some replacement latches but the part that retracts is too short to extend into the frame. The old latch shown on the left is 3 1/8 x 1 3/8. Please give me the dimensions of the length of the part that retracts so I can be sure it will work.

The section that extends is 1/2"

The existing holes on center are 2 1/8"

I'm trying to avoid having to redrill holes in the window frame to fit replacement latches.
