Window manufacturer
I am trying to determine the window manufacturer for the windows of a home I recently purchased and the only markings I can find are on the balance. The attached picture oh the balance has "AHP" stamped between the balance numbering (144 GT) and I was wondering if that might be the manufacturer's initials.
Thanks
I'm not sure what you have, unfortunately. We have dozens of different balances with that stamp. It's not a product code or anything, it just indicates the strength of the spring.
In order to figure out what Series this is, I need you to remove an undamaged version of this balance from the window and show me clear pictures of the top and bottom nylon fittings. I will also need to know the dimensions of these fittings.
Not necessary. The balance is functioning fine. I was trying to determine the window manufacturer in an attempt to see if the windows were still under warranty as I have a couple that have bad seals. Since the only notations I could find on the windows was on the balance I figured I would ask your company since I have noticed in past discussions you tend to be quite knowledgeable.
Thanks, Will C.
Thanks for clarifying, Will. Unfortunately, the balance stamp alone doesn't tell me who made the window. As mentioned before, all that tells me is how strong the spring is. It has nothing to do with who made the window, only the balance.
If you're interested in the window manufacturer then you should check the inside of the frame for a metallic AAMA sticker. Sometimes that contains a code we can use to track down the manufacturer; not always, but it is usually a safe bet. I'm happy to look that over if you can find it.
