Window operator
Our current ones are white in color and measure 5 1/2 inches left to right. We also need both operators....left and right.
Thanks
Randy
Thanks for writing in. This looks like our 39-187 and 39-188. Unfortunately, as you likely know, this operator comes with a 5" link arm. We've simply have never been able to find this operator with a smaller arm. What people have done in the past is that they've used a drill to remove the rivet from the 39-187 so that they can replace the 5" arm with the old 4" arm and seal it with a 62-014 rivet. This should bring the operator back into working order, if you think you can manage it. Let me know what you think.
Also, I seem to have the Z type arm which means I need the 39-188, agreed?
On a side note: Isn't it funny the everyone seems to have the same windows made the same "long time ago" that all are less than 5 inches and yet is it only the 5 inch length that is available.
Thank you for your advice
It's not all that difficult, but it takes a steady hand and a little elbow grease. Basically you need to drill the old rivet out as cleanly as you can, then hammer the old arm on the new operator using our 62-014 rivet. You do this by putting the elbow over a metal plate and hammering the rivet on. Ideally, the skinny end of the rivet "mushrooms" out as it's smashed against the metal plate, allowing the arm to stay in place. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have any questions.
