Window part

A home owner from USA says:
Hello,

My window does not lock in place anymore when I open it. It just slides back down. I was told the piece I need to replace is in the attached photo. Is this something you can help me with?

I also attached pictures of my windows so you can see what I am working with. The middle window is the one that is messed up. The rest work fine. Thanks for your help

The part you show here is a pivot bar. Yours in particular appears to match our 26-202. Look it over and let me know how they compare.

All that aside, these have nothing to do with the window staying up. The only way a pivot bar would allow a window to fall down like you describe is if it was broken clean in half, which does not appear to be the case here. Instead, the balances are what regulate the window's operation. They use a block and tackle system to counterbalance the weight of the sash so that it stays up when raised. If your windows are falling, then the balance is probably the culprit.

If your window uses the 26-202 pivot bar then it might also use our Series 600 spiral balance. Note that this is far from a guarantee, I'm mostly just guessing here, but it's at least a place to start.
