Thanks for reaching out to us. It's tough to determine what you have based on this photo. Would you have an undamaged version of this balance I can review? Can you also tell me if this is a tilt or non tilt window? Finally, what is the diameter of the outer tube? I don't see an outer tube on this balance so you will definitely need an undamaged version to measure as a point of reference.

Tom, the only undamaged piece I would have would be installed in another window. The window is non-tilt. There is no outer tube on either side or this window. I went to another window (that also doesn't stay up) and pulled a broken plastic outer tube that looks to be 7/16" . Should the outer tube be the same length as the balance? Including the plastic ends on the balance?

Thanks, Kevin. I've never heard of a tube for this style of balance being 7/16". The only two sizes for this style are 3/8" and 9/16". I would triple check that to be sure.

As for the length being the same size of the balance, it really depends. That's why we suggest measuring one that's still in good condition. Without that as a reference, you're going to have a much harder time garnering the proper length.

Finally, if this is a non-tilt window, then I'm going to at least need to see how your balance connects to the sash at its bottom corners. Usually I can determine that by reviewing the spiral tip itself, but yours has broken off. It is an essential detail.
