Window sash balance

We have older Imperial brand windows and need some components to. The spring that balances the vertical slide window broke on two windows and I am trying to locate replacements. I would purchase 4 if possible.

Thanks for reaching out! The channel balance you have appears to be the Series 770 Balance. To get you set up with the correct replacements, there are a few details I'll need to know about the balance.

To start, please confirm the length of the metal channel not including the attachments. You'll also need to confirm the exact weight of your sash since our replacements have a different rating system for the stamp. Be sure to double check this information for both of the windows you are repairing.

In response to your questions, the metal channel is 30" long and the two windows are 16.2 lbs and 15.8 lbs.

Hi Joel,

Thanks for confirming this information. Your balances can be replaced with the S770-30 Balance with a 30B stamp option. This stamp can support a sash weighing 13 to 19lbs.

Be sure to double check that your balances have a 9/16" width.

In measuring our current balances I would consider them closer to 5/8" as an outside measurement so a 9/16" unit would fit easily.
What is my process now to order 4 of the balances you noted?

Hi again
As I was about to order the parts, I thought of one more question. Given there are two balances on each window, should we be ordering a lighter gauge unit i.e. since each balance only needs to deal with approximately 8 lbs?

Hi Joel,

The sash weight ranges on the website are based on (2) balances per sash. I've confirmed the correct stamp for balances that would support your 15.8lb and 16.2lb sashes.
