Window spiral tilt spring

Question

Please help me identify the replacement length for my spiral tilt window spring.  The one I removed from the window measures 28-7/16" (length of metal casing), diameter is 3/8".  Looks like a red tip, but the tip is pushed in.  Do I need a 28" or 29" replacement?

Based on your measurements, I recommend our S900-29 balance. I think that should work for you.
