Wondering about replacing pivot shoes that I am researching. How do you remove old and insert new?

Thanks for posting. There's many different kinds of pivot shoes, and without photos I'm not sure what you are working with. But broadly speaking there's two ways of doing this. You can use jamb spreaders like the 75-069 to widen the jamb to get the shoe out. Or, you can perform the 'cutout' method to form a cutout to remove the shoe. See the videos on this page for further guidance. If you can remove the pivot shoe from the window and send us photos, and also tell us its width and thickness, we can narrow down what you need.,

Bob, I am sending pictures of the pivot shoe that cracked and is no longer inserted in the metal track.

first pic is of the track

the metal track is just about 1/2 inch wide and the plastic shoe inserts into the end of the rod

is this enough information for you to make a recommendation?

thank you

This looks like a T lock pivot shoe. We sell a few different varieties of this part, but not everything.

Yours is a particular style notable for having a deep groove in the "stem," which most modern T lock shoes lack. The only style we sell with that groove is our 15-236, which is 1-1/4" wide. This may be what you need, but you need to check the width of your original part to ensure that it's the same size. That does require removing it beforehand.
