Wool seals for early 80's vintage Acorn tilt out windows

A handy person from Muskegon, MI says:
Nightmare scenario - I tried 58-127 first but it would not thread into the slot. Then I tried 58-042 and it fell out of the slot!!! How can that be when the former is narrower than the latter? See pictures of the seal slot with uniform swages the length of the track. Are those normal? I had a hard time getting the old ones out. Please advise.

Thanks,
Mike

Looking at your wool pile groove, it appears that the manufacturer pinned the weather stripping in the frame to secure it in place. To replace your wool pile, you would need to open up the track where it has been pinned. To be honest, this is not an easy job. A small screw driver could help in opening up the track.
