Wrong Stamp on Channel Balance

Thanks for posting. I'm afraid you are almost certainly going to have problems with these 30" balances stamped 2930, instead of the 2940 you originally had. Balances stamped 2930 are calibrated to support window sashes in the weight range of 16 through 23 lbs, while balances stamped 2940 are for sashes that weigh 23 through 28 lbs. I suppose if your window sash weighed exactly 23 lbs you might be okay; but even then I would advise against using the 2930 balances, as we always recommend replacing the original stamp whenever possible. Most likely you will have trouble keeping the windows open with this weaker balances, or the sash will drift downward during use.
