What causes the spiral balancers to pop out of the pivot shoe? I just bought this house and a couple of windows needed this repaired. Looking for advice to ensure this doesn't continue to happen.

The spiral can become dislodged id the spiral end of the mounting brackets at the top of the pivot shoe are damaged. We can't be sure of what you have with the part still installed but I see that you purchased the 15-178 pivot shoe already. This could be what you need depending on how the dimensions compare to yours.
