anderson casement operator arm

A home owner from Carlisle, Pa says:
I've been told I have to remove part of the wooden sash to get to the operator arm for replacement? Is this true and how does one go about doing that?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
You actually have to remove the bottom sill cover on the main frame of the window, not the sash. I believe the sill cover is just nailed in with small trim nails. Try to use a stiff putty knife like tool and pry the sill cover up carefully to expose the operator mounting screws in the window sill. Be very careful to not crack the wood sill cover and wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.
