Question

The S751 balance looks like the correct one.  the one I have measures 17" long  but it stamped 14 and the letter B.  Is this the correct one?  I will probably go with the one with greater lift because it is easier to pull down on the window than push up (it is located behind and above a sink)

A stamp of 14B is weird on a balance with a 17" long metal channel. If you're sure it's a 17" long, Series 751 then I would recommend weighing your sash on a scale to confirm the best stamp option. You want to be careful when choosing the stamp option, since it is possible to have one that is too strong. More support isn't always better. A spring that is too strong could prevent you from closing the window entirely.
