Thanks for writing in! It is very likely that we have a replacement balance that we can recommend for your existing balances. I'll just need a bit more information to determine which replacement we may be able to recommend.

To start, I'll need to see a clear photo of your balances removed from the window, the length of the metal channel, a photo of any attachments on the top and bottom of the balance, and finally a clear photo of the stamp needed.

The stamp will indicate the weight range your balances should be able to carry to support your sash. However, we can only use that once we've identified the exact balance you need.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I will try to remove the part on Monday or Tuesday and take the required photos. In the mean time, I have sent you a picture of the component in the track and a picture of the label at the top of the window. Can I assume that you have them. I am not sure how to remove the part from the track. Can you recommend a YouTube video that can help me with that?

Yes, as explained, it is very likely that we have a replacement balance that we can recommend for your existing balances. I'll just need a the request information to determine which replacement we may be able to recommend.

It does appear that you could possibly have a T-lock shoe, in which case you would need to remove the hook/screw from the top of the window, then you'll need to tilt the balance down to about a 90 degree angle. Then you'll twist the balance in the channel to remove it.

If this is the not the type of balance you have, then I'll need to see the clearer photos of the balance, especially.

Once you've had the chance to remove the balances and send the photos of the top and bottom attachments, I'll be able to confirm if there is a balance we can supply.

I hope this helps!

Here is the best picture that I have of the "T-lock piece". Can you send me a picture of what you think it is? I'm afraid to remove it from the window for fear that I may not be able to get it back in. Do you have any links to Utube videos which show how to do this>

It does appear that you have an older version of our Series 759 Channel balances. These are compatible with the 15-195/15-195B, 15-194, 15-230 and a few other T-Lock shoes. There are far too many and I cannot identify the exact one you'd need with the part still installed in the window. So, to narrow down exactly which one you have, you will need to remove the balance from the window. Unfortunately, there is no way around this.

I will also still need to know the stamp from the balance. If there are no stamps/markings, I'll need to know the exact weight of the window.

You'll need to provide a photo of the top screw clip/hook at the top of the balance as well as a photo of the space where this part is installed.

For a visual idea of what I explained above, take a look at the video below. Starting at the 3minute and 14 second mark.

Jasmine,

I haven't given up but we are nervous about doing this. We'll try early next week.

Hi John,

You'll find that it is fairly easy, as far as hardware projects can go. You can do it!

There is no rush to provide the information to me. I'll be ready to offer a recommendation once you are ready!
