before I remove, should I make a cutout at the top of the channel?

Thanks for helping me with my spiral balance replacements in the past. Your videos are very helpful. For this new type of window, I need to identify the right coil part number. I'll send you a better picture, but I want your advice about where to make the cutout to remove the broken spring. Is there any advantage to making the cutout above the coild rather than right where it sits?

Thanks for writing in, and thanks for the kind words. Glad we could help you so far. The general rule of thumb for cutouts is the higher up the window track the better. You don't want to risk having the pivot shoe fall out while normally raising the window, so making the cutout at the top of the track is the safest way to avoid that. If you could remove the coil springs as well as the pivot shoe they attach to and send us photos, we'll be happy to help identify them for you.
