The die number 4392 gives us a small clue; I believe it was used by the company Allen Stevens from New York, who are unfortunately no longer in business. They made the 82-003, which has a screw hole distance 8.89 centimeters (3-1/2"). See if this is a good match. Also be sure to check your door's rollers; often when a handle breaks like yours has, the rollers are the culprit.
