broken locking mechanism

Question

I have a multi-point lock on a casement window. The lever has broken off the window lock piece and the window is locked. I can't crank it open to replace any broken parts. How do I get the window to open?

Hey, Bob. This is always a tricky situation. Your best hope is to try to force the lever back in and try to unlock the window that way. It won't be easy, but it's a lot easier than the alternative, which is cutting the lock clean off your window. This is extremely difficult and if you find yourself forced to do this, then we highly recommend the help of a professional.
