broken thumb latch on Simonton sliding patio door

Home Owner from repairing my patio door handle
I don't know whether I only need to replace the thumb latch, the mortise lock, or the whole handle (including lock and latch). Could you please advise? Thumb latch length is 1 7/8". Handle screws are 4" apart.

If the only compatible replacement has no key lock, that's OK.

Thank you for your help!

Hello there!

Thank you for reaching out to us. We sell the 82-107 if that latch is the only thing that's broken. However, keep in mind that a broken latch can indicate that the mortise lock needs to be replaced. If you wanted to replace the mortise as well, see the 82-226

Thank you! I just tested the mortise lock using the procedure in the 82-107 video. The lock seems to work, so I'll go ahead and order the latch but keep the old lock.

Great! Thank you for your business, we really appreciate it. Let us know if you need anything else and good luck with the repair!

I'm happy to report that my repair was successful! One wrinkle was that I had to file down the tailpiece of the exterior lock to keep it from rubbing against the thumb latch tailpiece (making the thumb latch slow to turn).
