I need to replace 4 channel balances. The number I have is 8-28-A, don't know the manufacturer These windows are about 40 years old. The length of the metal balance itself is 29" and the width is 1/2". I weighed the window and it weighs 11lbs so I think the original channel balances were undersized for the windows as, from reading your info, the first number should be the weight that a pair should lift. Do you have something that will work?

Hello,
The balance assembly shown in your photos resembles the S800-29 but this balance comes with a smaller 3/8" wide metal channel. I believe that this is what you need but it's important to confirm that the channel width is the same.
How to measure the length of the Series 800 channel balance.
The 28-A stamp on your balance would generally mean that you need 28A strength options for your balances but they would only support a sash weighing between 4-8 lbs. If you have an 11-pound sash, you would need 28B options to support a sash between 8-14 lbs. Take a look and let us know if you need anything else.
