channel balances have different sized shoes

Quick Learner from Austin
I bought a replacement channel balance for a window. Same length 28" but the end of the channel that would be at bottom of window is quite a bit bigger [photo below with original on right]than the original and window does not shut on that end. You can look at the bars and see the difference in shape but I did not notice when I picked up from supply store. Original bar says 2740 and what looks like B.31. The new bar has no numbers on it that I can see?

Hey there! That definitely is a significant difference in size. Can you tell me if your original nylon shoe has a wheel built into it?

If so, this will have to be specially made. I'll need a few more details before we can get started. I'll need a clearer picture of the metal hook at the bottom and I'll need to know how many you need altogether. I'd also like a clear shot of the top nylon fitting.

Let me know!

Thank you! I've att'd a few more shots. Do these help? I'm assuming we would need two of these so we can replace on each side of the window. We would need also 2 of the metal clips. How much are we looking at to get these made and timeframe? Thank you so much for your assistance! Holly

Oh, I'm a little surprised. I had assumed the balance on the left of your first photo was the original. The balance you're showing me here is pretty standard and very common. We can definitely supply this, I just need a bit more information.

Starting out, the shoe on the bottom is either our 15-001 or 15-002, which are used on many different balances in our inventory. Can you tell me which one you have? The only difference is the depth.

Can you then show me a picture of the top nylon fitting?

Once I know that information then I can recommend an exact replacement for your original balance.

My apologies for confusion!! I do appreciate your help! Here are more shots of the TOP of the original. I don't see any numbers or letters on the plastic piece itself. #1872, 1873 & 1874 are different views of piece.

The photos #1875 and 1877 are of the bottom piece [which is the part that is so much smaller than the replacement channel we tried to use].

Hopefully I have not confused you! Holly

No worries, Holly. These are the pictures we need. Have a look at our S395-28 balance. This comes assembled with a 19-005 balance top and 15-001 bottom balance shoe I previously mentioned. Look this over and see if this looks correct to you. If everything looks good, then you can go with the 2740 option that supports a sash weight of 19-26 pounds.
