Thanks for posting, Roland! Based on your stamp, it looks like you may want to choose the 3240 option, however those other numbers on the stamp make me hesitate. The 3240 option can carry a window sash weight range of 23 through 28 pounds, though. Does your sash's weight fall within that range?
Please keep in mind that the weight range information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
Tom:
My guess is that the window weighs 30-35 pounds.

Thanks for getting back to us, Roland. We highly recommend you get as exact a weight as possible. This is a fairly important part of channel balance replacement--if your balance is too strong, you may have a hard time opening and closing your window, and the balance may even break. If it's too weak, then it will not be able to support the weight of your balance.
You can determine the weight of your sash by removing it from the window and placing it on a scale. Any common bathroom scale would do.
That said, there are a few options that can support that range. That is another reason why I recommend that you get as exact a weight as possible.
The 3250 option can carry a window sash weight of 28 through 32 pounds, while the 3260 option can carry 32 through 35 pounds.
Tom:
On the bathroom scales the window weigs 25 pounds.
Roland
Thank you! In that case, my original guess at the 3240 seemed to be the most accurate. Like I said before, it can carry a window sash weight range of 23 through 28 pounds.
