Do you know if there's any "codes" that say these sash stops cannot be used in certain (i.e. bedroom) windows?

You won't find any number or stamp anywhere on your window that tells you what sash stop can be used, or not used. The only way to confirm if the 26-338 is a match is by comparing its physical details and measurements to your existing hardware.
