coil balance

Question

I"m pretty sure this is a broken coil balance.  The other side looks the same with the coil half way up the channel.  The window will not stay up.  If it is a coil balance, what size (weight) do I get?

I agree, this looks like a window coil balance. We'd be happy to help identify your balance, but we'll need to see an undamaged pivot shoe removed from your window to compare to our inventory. If we can identify the pivot shoe, that will tell us the coils and accessories that you'll need.

As for the weight, you can remove and weigh your window sash. Then, you'll divide the sash weight by how many springs you have in the window.

For example, if you had four springs total (two on each side) and a 12 pound sash, you would want four 3 pound springs.
