coil spring??

Hi there. If the window can't stay open, and if the coil springs are ripped in any way, then yes you will need to replace them. We'd be happy to help you do this; but we'll need to see the coil balance system removed from the window. The pivot shoe they connect to at the bottom of the sash is especially important, as the identity of the pivot shoe determines the identity of the coil springs. If you can show us the pivot shoe out of the window we should be able to ID what you need. See the video below for help on removal and replacement of the coil balance system.
