correct channel balance replacement selection

A friend from Seattle WA says:
I am a handy person helping a friend prep their house for sale. A channel balance has failed and the markings are 19 3 EK CALDWELL. Looking at your helpful guide, it is definitely a 20" series 380, but I am unsure as to what the stamp option is.

Also, the differences between the series 380 and 385 seem to be very subtle and possibly confined to the shoe. I will send a photo of the shoe for your perusal. Thanks for your help. Dave

Hello, Dave. I'll do my best to help.

To start out, a stamp of 19 3 usually corresponds to our 1930 option. You can always weigh your sash to be 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident that's what you want.

As for the difference in those two Series, you're absolutely right: the size of the shoe is the only difference. However, that's not something we can really eyeball from a photo that well. You will need to measure your shoe to determine the best choice. When you measure, make sure to account for wear. What I mean is, the depth of your shoe may be a little less than it once was.
