difficult to remove channel balance

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove a channel balance that's essentially stuck between the side of the window and the track?

I'm not sure how to answer this. The way you would remove your balance depends entirely on exactly why it's stuck. Can you describe the problem in more detail? What went wrong? Can you also show us pictures of the problem?

I found that either the cord or spring in the balance have broken and no longer hold window up (you slide it up, it comes right back down). The balance then just sits in the track between the window and frame.

If the balance is simply loose in the frame, then you should be able to remove it the same way you remove it normally. The only difference would be that it lacks tension, which shouldn't affect this process. The video below will go into more detail.
