door handle failing

Question

Exterior door handle not pulling latches fully into door, difficult to open door.

This problem seems to be from a prior owner that "forced" the door handle down and damaged the internals of the handle. There is excessive play when the handle is moved in relation to the square connector that attaches to the lock mechanism in the door. Further, the range of motion of the handle is less in one direction vs. the other. Seeking some kind of replacement for either the door handle or the internals of this mechanism to fix the problem.

there are some numbers on the inside of the handle "1200-146" with "1200-145" on the inside unit.

door may have been installed in the 1990-2000 range. not sure.

Thanks for reaching out to us! I regret to say we would not be able to supply you with a replacement for the handle set you are searching for. Unfortunately, the handles we do have would not work as suitable alternatives, especially because they would not be compatible with the mortise lock you have here.

You may have some luck reaching out to the manufacturer, if you know who they are, or a local (small) hardware shop but I cannot make any guarantees.
