double-hung replacement parts
Hello,
We are looking for a coil spring and metal connecting rod for a kitchen window . We think the window is a Simonton, but we are not sure. The window was installed by Sears in 2003. The number stamped on the coil is 409.
Actually we would need a set of parts for each side of the window, since the other side is looking like it might break at any time.
Thank you for your help. Please advise if you need more pictures,
Sincerely, Marge
This looks like a 15-192 Pivot Shoe, which uses Series 170 and Series 171 Coil Balances. See the video below. Note that the Simonton version of this shoe has a slightly different metal cam shape which can affect pivot bar compatibility. If that's what you have, we advise that you swap out your old metal cams with the ones in the new shoes.
Dear Bob from Swisco,
I am so embarrassed to be writing you after five months.I am hoping you can help us.
We placed order #1437021 on JULY 2, 2020, received it a few days later and then my husband promptly lost it. We barely found and opened it today, Nov.28,2020. All those months we had been manually opening the window and placing a wooden block to keep it open.
Anyway, the parts that were sent don't appear to be right. The S170-409 looks right, but the 26-175 seem way too chunky compared to the original picture of the long
, skinny part I sent in my text.
So, is there any chance we can send back the pair of pivot bars (have not been opened at all) and try to get the correct bars (I don't know their part #)? Please advise us on what we should do. we"d certainly appreciate any input. Thank you, Marge and Jose.
Hey Marge & Jose, no worries! Thanks for writing in again. Yes, unfortunately the Simonton version of this pivot shoe and the pivot bar are both a bit different. Your pivot bar looks more like our 26-336. Note that when using this new pivot bar, you'll still need to either use the old metal cams from your old pivot shoes, or try and 'shave' down the collar on the pin of the pivot bar so it fits the new cams in the new shoes.
I think I should have been clearer about the pivot bar issues here in my original post, so I apologize for the confusion! I've requested my customer service team to refund you for the incorrect pivot bar. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for reaching out.
