Is the extruded latch lock made out of metal?

I have two of these latch locks on the bottom of the inner window. With my arthritus hands I find it increasingly difficult to raise the window and at the same time disengage the latch. Please advise how I can remove the latch locks. Thank you.

These types of spring-loaded latch locks slide into the end of the window lift rail at the bottom of the sash. They are slid in at the end of the lift rail and in some cases, the channel that the lock slides into is "pinned". As a result, the lock will not slide out of the channel. You might need to remove the sash from the window to slide the locks out of the lift channel. If the lift channel has been "pinned", you'll need a small flat-blade screwdriver to open up the channel.
