file down key lock

Question

I have the 82-055K for a 1-1/8"-thick door, as recommended by our locksmith. Is the cylinder designed to be filed down to accommodate this width?

Our 82-055K may still work in your door, but you will have to cut down the tail on the key cylinder and you may even have to reuse your old throw latch.
