help with part for Milguard window

Thanks for reaching out! The piece that broke off of is the spindle that allows the crank handle to attach onto the operator. That spindle is part of a gear, referred to as a worm gear, that interacts with the gears on the inside of the base. Unfortunately, this is not something that can be repaired, so you'll need to replace the entire operator.

I'm happy to identify the replacement you need, but I'll need to see a photo of the entire operator. I am especially looking to see a photo of the arm(s) and how the operator connects to the bottom of the swinging sash.

Since the crank handle can no longer be attached, I do understand that you may not be able to open the window. So, I should be able to identify what you need using an operator for a similar window.

Since the operator is already being replaced, my best suggestion would be to carefully drill a screw into the spindle at the point where it broken off. Then you'll need to use a pair of pliers to crank the window open.

In regard to the photos, unfortunately, I cannot use the photos of the base or the cover and handle to identify the replacement operator you need. As mentioned, I'll need to see a photo of the entire operator. I am especially looking to see a photo of the arm(s) and how the operator connects to the bottom of the swinging sash. The arm(s) help to push/pull the sash open/closed.
