how many turns???

A home owner from Florida says:
I have ordered a pair of 21" series 400 red bushing balances for a single hung aluminum window.

Please tell me how many turns the balances get to be considered properly charged? Or at least a randge, with actual numeric values? All I've seen it to give them a "few" turns???

Thanks in advance.

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Depending on the weight of your sash I usually start 3 turns on each side and go from there.
When you do charge up your balance turn it with spiral close to the end of the tube casing as to not bend the inner spiral.
