How offend do you need to lubricate the window balance and with and with what type of lubricant? Oil base, or other base?

A channel balance comes properly lubricated, and it stays that way for around 5 years. Around 5 years into the lifespan of the balance, you can begin to rub lithium grease (white grease) onto the spring itself (and only the spring) every other year.

Also, if you feel the need, you can use silicone spray to lubricate the side tracks of the window, so the balances slide through them better.
