innstallation of 40-032 handle

Question

This is the  second time I have ordered this handle,  The spring part has a tab.  When you insert the spindle into the push button should it snap into pace as it does not.  Should we force it in

Hello! The spindle should be the same length as the old spindle. If not, the spindle has to project 3/16" to 5/16" past the door without pushing in the outside door button. To install the inside latch, press in the bottom and guide spindle into the latch slot, then screw the handle together. Hopefully this helps.
