locking latch with a paten no. of 4674777

Question

looking to replace a latch on my casement window that only has the paten number of 4674777 on it and no other id.   the mounting holes are 2.5 inches apart.  I have not been able to get a photo of it yet.

I'm afraid those numbers aren't really reliable in terms of identifying a replacement. I have very few references to that in my records, though there is strong indication that it's an older, discontinued part.

One possible replacement option is our 38-036. You could start by looking this part over, but if that's not a good fit then I'll need a photo of the original to use as a reference.
